Clinton Avenue United Methodist Church is a historic social justice church in the heart of Midtown Kingston, NY. Often called One Hope Community, we are a diverse spiritual family made up of neighbors, seekers, long-timers, and newcomers—gathered by a shared desire to live in love, healing, and hope.
We don’t have all the answers, but with God’s help, we’re learning, growing, and walking this journey together.
We believe God welcomes ALL—and so do we.
Our church is a safe and affirming space for people of all ages, races, sexual orientations, gender identities, economic circumstances, family types, and physical or mental abilities. Together, we strive to embody the kindness, justice, and radical love of Jesus Christ.

Rev. Dr. Joy MacVane
Rev. Dr. Joy MacVane is an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church and has served as Pastor of Clinton Avenue United Methodist Church since 2018. She is passionate about caring for the community through ministries like the Blue Fridge and creating a church where everyone is welcomed with kindness, respect, and hope. Joy believes that every person is loved by God and that the church should be a place where people can gather in peace, grow in faith, and serve their neighbors together.

David Boyd
David Boyd is Chair of the Church's Board of Trustees and serves as Manager of the Blue Fridge, where he helps ensure that fresh food is available to neighbors every day. Known throughout Kingston for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to lend a hand, David was recently honored with a City of Kingston Commendation for Outstanding Community Service. He is a trusted friend to many and lives out his faith by caring for others with quiet compassion and unwavering dedication.
